Neville Rangi-Tane Pettersson is a Maori from Christchurch. My family originates from Murupara (Tuhoe and Ngati Manawa).

This guide was created basically out of necessity by me when I didn’t have any of my family around to do my Christmas Hangi. I had to figure it out for myself and in writing my guide I soon realised that there wasn’t any reliable information on the internet. A lot of it was OK, but I knew that a Hangi was a temperamental beast and one mistake could be costly.

Several Hangi’s later and now my guide is helping hundreds or Kiwis around the world (and in NZ), create their own piece of home.
